One in a Million Award recipient: Carly Bigi
Where she’s multiplying good: New York, New York
How she’s multiplying good: She is One in a Million. Carly Bigi's NYC-based women's apparel company Laws of Motion pivoted it's entire manufacturing operations to make over 2 million surgical gowns for the healthcare worker PPE shortage in New York State. They supplied these gowns directly to Governor Cuomo's team in a five week period surrounding the apex of the outbreak, when healthcare providers were in dire need of PPE and import delays contributed to a significant shortage. In addition, Laws of Motion donated over 500,000 masks directly to the frontline and hospitals. Laws of Motion called this pivot the Hero Initiative because it is about our heroes - whether you are a hero at home helping to flatten the curve, a hero powering an essential business, or a hero fighting tirelessly to save lives on the frontlines of Covid-19. Lastly, Laws of Motion invited their community of empowered women to join in their efforts with the option to purchase of gift a limited-edition Hero Robe, with 100% of proceeds from the robes funding additional PPE donations.
